Clark County Jail

Project Summary

Clark County hired Shireman as CM to help with the design process and oversee construction on a challenging downtown addition and renovation project.

The County was in the midst of many budget challenges, so Shireman worked with the design team to come up with an addition to meet current requirements while the construction of additional shell space would allow the jail’s capacity to be increased later by adding additional prefabricated steel cells.

Shireman also added value engineering ideas to the base bid packages, involving the ideas of local contractors, which helped the bids come in under budget.

Shireman project managers used scheduling phasing to keep the Civic Center and Jail operating during construction. The jail’s security and electronics system was also phased carefully to allow for a smooth switchover.

“The Clark County Jail Holding Corporation made a decision to entrust them with our $16.9 million dollar jail edition and renovation project and it has been an excellent decision. I personally don’t know what I would have done without them.”
